To Save A Life…A Movie Not To Miss

Movies are typically a wonderful way to “get away” from the hassles of life. However, sometimes a movie comes along with a mission to “grip you” with life and challenge you with what you are doing with yours.

This is a teen-aged movie that challenges youth to care about those around them, especially the “hard to love.” The movie is trying to push past the stereotypes that separate people and step out of our comfort zone to touch the lives of those around us.

The movie deals with topics that are fully in the face of youth these days including sex, parties, suicide, school shootings, abortion, responsibility and the questions of life and “Who am I?”.

This movie has themes of Christianity and how a relationship with God can change your views on those around you. And just maybe, God wants a relationship with you so you can “save a life.”

Through the efforts of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Poplar Bluff Kerasotes Theater has been selected as one of the premiere sites for opening weekend. Bob and Pam Becker will be performing a free concert this Saturday at 7pm at the First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff. The concert is open to the public.

The husband-wife duo have performed both on theatrical and concert stages with a number of wide diversity of styles. The evening promises to be with music from multiple genres including popular opera, folk songs & broadway tunes.

Google Android Coming To Verizon
T-Mobile & Sprint have already released a version of the Google Android phone, but in S.E. Missouri that doesn’t do much for you. But earlier this month, Google & Verizon announced that the open-platform phone was coming to the “Can You Hear Me Now” network. AT&T, home of the iPhone, has yet to agree that the Android can be used on their network.

Google AppEngine Goes Java
For two years, Google’s development platform (known as Google App Engine) was only available for the Python programming language. But last month, Google released a Java version of the application development system. For those who program, Google has developed a powerful, scalable platform for your web applications.

I love baseball. I love Cardinal’s baseball. And I enjoy Pujols and Holliday as the best 3-4 combination in the majors. My youngest son’s room has a life-sized Pujols pin-up, I own five Pujols rookie cards (including a card that is one of only 15 printed), and I will join any “retire #5” club. But I do not support $35m to keep Pujols.

You’ve got the Park Department staff, coaches, parents, players, concession staff and ball park maintenance staff, each playing a vital role in pulling it all together. Now we know that baseball enthusiasts come in all ages, but the cliché is true that the baseball program is primarily “for the kids.”

New Problem for Your Computer

It’s My Fault…Not Pujols’!

I heard a statistic reported on the radio the other day that 30% of Americans believe that Entertainers and Pro Athletes should not make more than $1,000,000 a year.

Kentucky’s new head coach is to be paid $4,000,000 a year for the next eight years which pales in comparison to Pujols who gets paid $16,000,000 a year to play baseball. Pujols gets left in the dark when compared to the $58,000,000 Wil Smith reportedly received from the movie Hancock.
